Amazon.com Review
"Judy can pat the bunny. Now YOU pat the bunny." Sound familiar? Pat the Bunny is a part of childhood, as soothing as cocoa and animal crackers. Dorothy Kunhardt's interactive book for babies and toddlers was one of the first of its kind when it was published in 1940, and it has since sold over six million copies. We pat the soft fur of the bunny, play peek-a-boo, look in the mirror, and then do it all over again. (And again and again and again.) After you Pat the Bunny with your baby, why not Pat the Cat and Pat the Dog? These two sequels were written by Edith Kunhardt, the daughter of the author of the original book. Both use the same tried-and-true Pat the Bunny format: sturdy cardboard pages with eight activities that wee ones can explore, from sniffing some brownies, to squeaking a teddy bear, to unfastening Grandma's tennis shoe. The simple line drawings and pastel colors don't do much for adults, but somehow they are just right for babies. This boxed set is a fine choice for a baby gift or first birthday present, and a lifesaver on a long car trip. (Baby to preschool) --Marcie Bovetz

5 out of 5 stars Ultimate, classic touch and feel book   July 22, 2010
BostonMama (Boston, MA)
This is THE touch and feel book, and has been a classic for decades, and there is a reason for that. My daughter, now 14 months, has loved touching and feeling every page since she was about 6 months old. She always pats the bunny, plays peek a boo with Paul, and puts her finger in Mummy's ring. She never gets bored or restless like she does with other books that are unsuccessfully geared toward the toddler set. It is a simple, soothing little read, with the perfect amount of stimulation, and the perfect length. It took my daughter a while to understand how to "smell the flowers," but now she loves to do that, too. It is a joy to read for both parent and child.

For those who call this book "flimsy," the pages and comb binding have been the format forever. That IS the Pat the Bunny format, and it is perfectly sturdy. Just because it is not big and heavy does not mean it is not sturdy. In fact, many board books are so heavy for my daughter to pick up and hard for little tiny hands to manipulate-- and their pages sometimes stick together. This little lightweight treasure with easy-to-turn pages on a spiral bound make this book sooo easy for little ones hold and turn the pages. My daughter has played with it many, many times, and I do not treat it any differently from her other board books, and it is in perfect condition, just like the rest. I think a toddler would have to go pretty crazy on it to rip it or anything.

5 out of 5 stars Astonished   July 13, 2010

I'm astonished by the fact that the negative reviews all focus on the binding, and how a kid will tear or chew the book apart. Books are not chew toys. They are meant to be handled with some care. What do these parents do? Throw the book in the crib and hope their kid will grow up a great reader?

1 out of 5 stars Very flimsy, low quality book easy destroyed by a baby or toddler   July 13, 2010

I just received this book today. I will be returning it tomorrow at my own expense. The content is cute but the quality of the book is very low. The pages and binding seem very flimsy. If I let my baby have this he would destroy it very quickly. We have several other interactive books with things you can touch or open panels and they are all made of much more durable materials. This was a big disappointment. I am very surprised amazon would sell such a low quality version of this book!

5 out of 5 stars Pat the Bunny   May 17, 2010

This is a great book for the infant/toddler set: both fun and educational. I was weaned on it and then had the pleasure to read it to my younger siblings, who wanted to me to read to them over and over again. Simple but enchanting.

2 out of 5 stars Pat the Bunny book (not as published in 1970's)   May 15, 2010

Our children (now mid 30's) had enjoyed the original Pat the Bunny book. I saw this version on Amazon and ordered it for our granddaughter. The quality was not the same as I had remembered. The original had sturdy cardboard pages that were substantial and held up for many years, I am sure. This newly printed version is smaller and the pages are two thin pages held together at the back with a plastic spiral. I ordered this product for a birthday gift and did not see the product until it was received just prior to the birthday. I was disappointed in the quality and advised the shipper.

We were given a refund on the purchase price.
