Amazon.com Review "When I was quite young and quite small for my size, I met an old man in the Desert of Drize." The old man looks like a cross between a cartoon granddad and a swami; he sits on top of a cactus, and tells his young listener that the best way to get over any sadness is to imagine all the ways you could be worse off. "Suppose, just suppose, you were poor Herbie Hart, who has taken his Throm-dim-bu-lator apart!" This has a more hurried, formulaic feel than the best Seuss, and it seems to showcase a less acute grasp of child psychology than usual. (Does it really make a child feel better to think of poor Harry Haddow, who, "try as he will, can't make a shadow," or Gucky Gown, "who lives by himself ninety miles out of town"?) But the illustrations alone make this morality tale a minor classic. (Ages 4 to 8) --Richard Farr
Product Description Illus. in full color. Children will be cheered just contemplating the outrageous array of troubles they're lucky they don't have.

A Great Book for An Adult Who Hates Their Job! November 26, 2008 Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/RL8BWKU4Q4JJY
sent this- not a card or flowers October 9, 2008 This book is ideal for the person you know who is feeling down either because of depression or a serious illness. It will lift their spirits and lighten their heart.
A lesser known Dr. Seuss book for good reason July 28, 2008 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
If you receive this book as a gift see if you can trade it in for a better Seuss book. Don't add it to your bedtime reading rotation if you've already stocked some of the more popular Dr. Seuss titles, such as:
The Cat in the Hat Green Eggs and Ham Horton Hears a Who
This book is mind-numbingly repetitive and not in a lyrical, pleasing way like Hop on Pop or Fox in Socks. Add the fact that this concept is much harder to grasp than what you'll find in most Dr. Seuss books. Job satisfaction isn't a problem for young sons.
Overall, these issues don't make this book as horrible as a movie tie-in but I can't recommend this book when it fails to measure up to Dr. Seuss classics.
Great book for remembering how lucky we all are!!! June 9, 2008 I love this Dr. Seuss book. It is too easy these days to focus on the negative things in life. I bought this book for my 10 year old son and 12 year old daughter to remind them, in a humorous way, that even though everything in life may not be exactly the way they want it to be, they still have a pretty terrific life.
