Product Description A charming story set in old Hawaii when Christmas trees first came to the islands. A young Hawaiian girl is happy to have a real Christmas tree in her home for the first time. Friends and relatives come to admire it and she tells them the tree will keep growing after the holidays. They all know that is impossible because the tree has been cut, but Kalei has faith--after all Christmas is a time of miracles. The tale is brought into focus with the illustrations which have a delicate old world style.

Charming Story of Old HawaiiOctober 1, 2006 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Dawn Adrienne's "The Hawaiian Christmas Tree is a charming story that will entertain and inform children everywhere. Although fictitious, it is also based on fact - the first arrival of Christmas trees in Honolulu in the early 1900s and what life was like on Oahu and Maui around then. Eye-catching, colorful illustrations enhance this book. - Glenda Chung Hinchey, writer
