Amazon.com Review
Stop everything! If at least one copy of each of these classics is not in a prominent place on your bookshelf, your home and your progeny's childhood is incomplete. Winnie-the-Pooh and his friends--blustery old Owl, bouncy Tigger, clever Christopher Robin, glum Eeyore, and the rest--have been a staple of children's literature for over 70 years in A.A. Milne's Winnie-the-Pooh and The House at Pooh Corner. And Milne's immortal collections of children's verse, When We Were Very Young and Now We Are Six, have soothed many a savage beast at bedtime with such incomparable delights as "If I Were King" and "Us Two." All four of these classics, complete with Ernest H. Shepard's original illustrations, are gathered here in a handsome boxed set. These hardcover editions will most certainly be a cherished legacy to be handed down for generations to come. After all, as Rabbit says solemnly one day, "Without Pooh, the adventure would be impossible." (Ages 3 to 103) --Emilie Coulter

5 out of 5 stars Great Original Edition Set   January 8, 2009
I bought this set for my unborn niece to start her book collection and really like its look. I've loved the Winnie the Pooh books since I was a child.

2 out of 5 stars this edition is in black and white   December 9, 2008

This edition is in black and white, I would not have ordered if I had known. I ordered this edition because I thought the 4 small books would be easier for a child to hold and read than the larger, heavier editions (of which I actually own). I didn't order the 80th anniversary edition because I read several reviews that said the covers tear easily on that edition. However, the color editions are so much more beautiful and have much nicer paper than this edition.
Please note I rate this edition as a 2, but the books themselves as a 5. Winnie-the-Pooh is every child's favorite.

5 out of 5 stars Read to Your Children   November 25, 2008
In my opinion this set is one of the most important pieces of literature from the Western world. I buy this set often as a gift for friends, who are just starting their families. I read these books to my son from day one and hope my friends will do the same. I encourage everyone I know to read this and other books to their children.

5 out of 5 stars I had originally not ordered this item, but it worked out nicely as a gift   June 1, 2008

I have given two sets of these books away as gifts. I just hope the recipients appreciate them and take good care of them.

5 out of 5 stars A.A. Milne & Ernest Shepard   January 2, 2008

Milne's classic children's books are perfectly illustrated by Shepard's clever line drawings. The originals are so superior to the Disney version that they are in a different league altogether. All children should hear the Pooh stories read by a loving adult. And the adult can enjoy Milne's sly humor on a separate plane from the child's appreciation.
