Love this travel bed! July 27, 2010 beijingmama 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I live abroad and travel a lot and alone with my daughter. I bought this and had it waiting for us for a month long trip to visit family in the US when my daughter was just 12 months old. I was worried because she moves around so much during sleep that I knew she would fall out of any bed I put her in and the idea of lugging around one of the very heavy pack and play type beds would be just too much and too expensive to check on all of all flights.
I was a little worried that she wouldn't take to it but she loves it and it has made our trip worry free as far as sleeping goes. Not only that but every child (and adult for that matter) who sees it wants to play in it.
It's light and very easy to set up and put away and as I put my daughter inside sleepy but awake I don't have the problems with the sound of the zipper waking her.
I would recommend this product especially for those who travel by air.
Excellent Alternative to a Pack and Play July 12, 2010 Steenbal 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This item is a great alternative to a pack and play. It takes up less space when its set up, and much much less space when packing it up to go somewhere. And our daughter likes playing and sleeping in it better than a pack and play. I wish we had discovered this product before spending the money on a pack and play. Just be careful when opening it. I read all the warnings on here and still wasn't prepared for how quickly it snaps open. I also haven't had any problems folding it back up, just watch the How-To video on the Kidco website beforing attempting.
Not for all kids July 8, 2010 JS In theory this was wonderful. I was so excited to find a travel bed this easy to carry, and so many wonderful reviews. It was very easy to fold and unfold, inflate and deflate-but the baby didn't want to sleep in it. We tried waiting until he fell asleep, adding toys, giving him lots of positive attention while he was in there, but after a couple of sleepless nights we gave up and returned it to Babies r us. There was another peapod at the store that had obviously been returned as well so I don't think we had the only baby with this issue. It's worth trying, but make sure you buy it with a merchant that has free shipping just in case.
very easy to use - works great! July 5, 2010 Ray Brown (SEATTLE, WA, US) We found he PeaPod is very easy to set up (although a little startling at first when it pops out). Easy to put away as well, after a couple of attempts at pushing the rings together. (the very last step is 'sliding' the rings together and not another fold). A few quick breaths into the mattress got it nice and firm. We wrapped a crib sheet around the mattress pad so it wasn't so cold and slippery, and used safety pins on the sheet on the underside to hold the sheet taught around the mattress. The baby's weight prevents the sheet from moving the pins. It's too bad that zippers (or velcro) make considerable noise, but the baby is generally not asleep very deeply yet when first put into it.
Highly recommended!!!
We also used an AngelCare sensor pad under the peapod to help prevent SIDS. We were able to find a piece of panelboard to tape the pad onto to spread out the sensor.
Best travel bed out there July 4, 2010 EMS (Washington, DC) Love the Peapod Travel Bed!
As other reviewers have said this travel bed is great and so much better than big, heavy pack n'plays. It is lightweight, easily fits into a suitcase, and is easy to set up and pack up. We used it for an entire week while away and my 11 month old son loved it. We were worried that he would have a hard time sleeping in it, but it was not an issue at all. We zipped him in and he went to sleep like always. The mattress can be zipped into a compartment underneath it, but we opted to put it inside with a sheet over it. We used pack n' play sheet over the mattress and it worked perfectly as it is pretty much the exact same size as a pack n' play except it is oval instead of rectangular.
