Dries out skin and hair - HORRIBLE for Eczema November 7, 2008 I decided to give this a try after trying several other soaps for my twin's eczema ridden skin. I noticed after the first bath with it that their once soft and shiny hair seemed suddenly brittle, dried out, and ultra freezy. It was as if the soap completely stripped their hair. Then I noticed their eczema getting much, much worse after a few washes. I started having to use a leave-in conditioner in their hair to even get a hair brush through it, it was so dry, brittle and tangled. Then extra lotion on their skin. The eczema worsened so bad I took them to the doctor again - before he had recommended just putting cortizone on it but this time it was so bad he had to give a prescription lotion. He asked what soap we were using and when I told him this stuff, he freaked out and told us it's the absolute worst for babies skin. We switched to something else and my twin's hair instantly was soft and shiny again, not frizzy and dried out looking like with Burts. Their eczema immediately disappeared after we stopped using this.
It dries and strips out skin and hair, it's just awful!!! Definitely shouldn't be used on a baby!! I wouldn't use it on myself, much less my children!
Good for what it is October 17, 2008 No matter how your allegiance to this company affects your perception, the product is still good.
This product smells nice, doesn't make my skin or my children's skin dry out. It is tear free and lasts quite a while.
Great product for baby! September 27, 2008 I love this product!! Makes baby's bath-time all the more pleasant. It smells great, lathers easily (even though it's Sodium Lauryl Sulfate-Free), and rinses clean. It doesn't dry out my baby's skin and doesn't appear to sting his eyes at all. There's no need for a separate shampoo and body wash, so one less thing to forget when travelling. Plus, a little goes a long way - I think one bottle can easily last half a year for me.
Give Clorox a chance! July 8, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I understand the other reviewers' concern over Clorox buying Burt's Bees, but if they'll provide a natural, environmentally friendly product, and can do it for less, it'll mean that more people can afford it and more people will be able to use it.
Yes, they'll make money, they're a business, they either make money or go out of business. However, it isn't inconceivable that they'll do something good with this. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
Good for this adult with sensitive skin! July 7, 2008 I bought this because I have very sensitive skin, and the ingredients were so mild (and the reviews were good). Up until now I have only found one other soap or body wash that stops my skin from itching (I have a mild thyroid disorder, that gives me dry itchy skin). I also am allergic to most soaps (break out in rashes...), but not this. Yeah, a new product for me that works! It leaves my skin feeling fairly soft, also.
I am not all that crazy about the scent (sort of baby powder meets honey smell, just a little funky, not bad - but it is, alas meant for babies), but the smell actually wears off my skin fairly quickly, so it doesn't bother me. I also tend to react to perfumes in soaps and body washes, but this does not set my sinuses off.
If I still had a young child / baby, I would be very comfortable putting this on them. As a person with sensitive skin, I am very happy with it on mine.
