Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Playtex VentAire bottle helps reduce gas and colic. The patented bottle lets parents feed their baby virtually bubble-free. The leak-proof vent lets air in through the bottom of the bottle versus at the nipple like other bottles, so there are virtually no bubbles for your baby to swallow. That means less gas, colic or spitting up, and its angled shape promotes the semi-upright feeding position recommended by pediatricians to help prevent ear infections. The VentAire bottle is also easy to clean because top and bottom are removable and the vent is one piece. Wash by hand or in the dishwasher. The VentAire Standard Bubble-Free Bottle System is perfect for bottle-feeding babies. Bottles are available in 6oz and 9oz sizes, and in assorted colors.

1 out of 5 stars Unnecessary   November 15, 2008
I was trying to get a Playtex bottle/nurser that didn't require liners, since the liners seemed like another unnecessary expense, but my baby liked the Playtex natural rubber nipple. However, I found these bottles confusing and the added features completely useless. They require a silicon nipple, and my baby couldn't get a good suck on it. It might be good for other babies, but not mine. I'm going to keep them around and try it out on her again, but I don't have high hopes for this bottle.

1 out of 5 stars Mind your fingers!!!!!!   June 22, 2008
Hi all,
I wouldn't rate a product so low in the face of 139 great reviews. But this is when things go very wrong :(. I bought a 3-pack of this product and while trying to hand-wash them , cut my finger . Calling customer service was worse!!! Ask for the supervisor and she didn't even cut it for a rep!!!! She forced me to choose between coupons and a refund only after returning the bottles, not fair!!!! Somewhere on amazon, I read evenflo customer service was so nice, replacing bottles and everything...
I would strongly recommend checking the bottles before washing or using them..horrible molding!!!! Avent ones are so smooth to handle...not a rough spot..What's wrong with Energizer Customer Care???!!!!

1 out of 5 stars horrible horrible -- leaks after a few washings   March 28, 2008
One of the biggest sources of my frustration after having a baby is just when I start feeding a hungry baby his milk, the bottle pours out over half of it all over a clean baby -- wasting breastmilk or formula, getting a clean baby dirty, his shirt all wet, and making him cry horribly because I have to pull the bottle away -- the bottles worked great for the first month I had them (I bought about 5 because I liked them) -- but now they are warped and the tops don't fit properly on I feel like I want my money back -- it's so frustrating to go to feed your baby and end up pouring the milk all over him.

We bought these bottles for our infant daughter also hoping that it will help prevent spit ups. She didn't like it as it was difficult to suck on.

And don't even try using other brands of nipples with these bottles as they won't work. Here's why. Most bottles that have only one open end have 2 holes on the nipples, 1 at the tip and 1 on the base of the nipple for drawing air into the bottle. (And I'd thought it was air from my baby while sucking). These Playtex ones have only 1 hole for letting milk out at the tip of the nipple and at the bottom of the bottle is where dozens of holes are to draw air to compensate the vacuum inside the bottle.

My 18 month old is now using these as she hated them months ago.

My biggest complain is cleaning them. I have one of those special clean tools that's a brush with a sponge at the end. The design of the bottle at the area where you screw the caps is especially hard to clean without something small like a toothbrush as residue traps inside the bottle at this area.

Overall, aside from cleaning it it's a great product.

5 out of 5 stars Use some common sense. Get these bottles.   June 7, 2007

Folks, any bottle will leak if you don't seal it properly.

We used the narrow VentAire bottles on our first child, and are now using the wide ones on our second. The only time we've ever had a leak was when we didn't screw on the bottom properly. It's not rocket science.

Some folks say these have a "lot of parts", or are hard to assemble. Bottle, top, bottom, disc and nipple. It's not like assembling a radio from a pile of transistors and a soldering iron. You want a bottle that's hard to assemble? Get a Dr. Brown's. Or try the Evenflow Elan -- I dare you to get the nipple in the ring on your first try.

Go to Target. Get a couple of the baskets for the parts (the kind that the nipples go in the top). Don't overfill the baskets. Put them in the top rack of the dishwasher along with the bottle itself. Wash them, be happy.

These bottles are great at preventing a vacuum from forming in the bottle, reducing the amount of gas that baby receives. Of course, your baby will get SOME gas and will still need to be burped, but it's a whole lot less.
