About Three Birds and Teak Teak is a very hard, densely grained wood with very high oil content. The unique combination of these characteristics makes teakwood naturally resistant to moisture, rot, warping, shrinking, splintering, insects, fungus, marine borers and termites making it an ideal material for the production of outdoor furniture. Three Birds is committed to providing teakwood outdoor furniture of the highest standard. We accept only Grade A, Plantation Grown Teak Timber from government managed plantations in the production of our furniture. All of the Teakwood used in our products is kiln dried prior to production. Our products are designed using mortise and tenon joinery with locking wood dowels. Where hardware is necessary, it is of the highest quality brass or, where unseen or internal, or where extra strength is needed, stainless steel. While color and grain of each piece of Three Birds furniture might vary, we ensure consistency within the piece by selecting timber of similar color and grain on a piece by piece basis.
