Editorial Review
This adorable companion is perfect for children who are afraid of the dark. Nine inches long, it has a squeezable body (dressed in cute pjs) and a large, friendly, glowing face. With the slightest hug, the little guy glows (with the help of a battery pack hidden in the doll's body). The more the child squeezes, the more he shines. The battery pack is child-resistant--and proves a bit adult-resistant, too, as it takes some fiddling to unscrew and open. Surface is washable. Requires two AA batteries, not included. --Elisa Murray

3 out of 5 stars Gloworm   September 16, 2007

I ordered this because i had one as a child and it was my favorite. i loved the smell of the plastic face. when i got it in the mial, it was vintage (probably from the late 80's) which i was not expecting. the box was smashed up, and the worm had a little bit of dirt on it's face. Also, the plastic did not smell like it did when i was a child :(

4 out of 5 stars Still awaiting the stork...   May 23, 2002

We are expecting our first child in August, but I couldn't resist buying some toys in preparation. I had bought a gloworm for a friend's (2 year old) child about 10 years ago and it was her favorite. The "Infant gloworm" is adorable, and has a pleasing glow to him. While smaller in size, I think he's a perfect size for smaller hands. I had NO problem installing the batteries. I am expecting he will be my son's favorite toy for years to come.

2 out of 5 stars My kids didn't like this toy   May 2, 2002

I bought 2 of these for my twins for their first Christmas. They couldn't really operate the light up part unless we positioned the thing and showed them where to push. Their hands weren't big enought to squeeze around the whole body. The light is activated by a bar on one side of the cylinder (inside the soft body where you put the batteries.) If that bar isn't where it was the last time - they won't be pushing it when they press (and, of course, the light won't come on) Bummer. Even when they did get it to come on..they weren't that impressed.

I bought it because I remember it from commercials when I was a kid and it looked really cute. I guess I didn't really think about it enough. I really don't even think that that little light would appease too many kids who are afraid of the dark. I was afraid of the dark, but it was because of things I thought were in the room that I couldn't see. A light near my face would only light up the monsters that were about to get me...I want a light where I can see stuff in the whole room!!! A nightlight is a better choice.

My kids are now 3 and I get these out of the toy box every few months. They now can light them up, but only once then go to something else.

5 out of 5 stars A nighttime soother....   March 7, 2002
This toy really should be meant for children older than six months. My son is 11 months and he rarely plays with it outside of his crib. I don't know if it is because he doesn't use it that much or what, but he doesn't really grasp that he can make her glow all by himself. However, whenever I show her to him, if he is fussy in his crib, the light seems to calm him down. I look forward to when Jaden grasps the whole idea.

The fabric has improved since I was small (about 25 years ago), the fabric is simple to clean and stands out from other dull, stuffed animals. The glowworm is a good investment for parents.

My daughter received this as a present, and she seems to really enjoy the "glowing" aspect of it, even though she can't make it "glow" herself yet. (She's right around 5 months...I know, the package says 6 mo. and up). It's a very cute toy, though the battery pack seems awfully hard! But, so far, she's very captivated by the Gloworm.
