3 out of 5 stars Great monitor with one large flaw   November 22, 2008
We like this monitor a lot for a number of reasons. First, there is absolutely zero interference from phones, etc (why every new monitor on the market is not digital, I have no idea!). Next, it is sensitive enough to pick up nearly every sound, but the adjustable volume effectively allows you to choose just how much you hear. Finally, it looks reasonably cool - not a huge deal, but certainly helps.

Our one big gripe is that there is no audible warning sound when the battery on the parent unit dies. This is not a problem as long as you keep it plugged in. But on a few occasions now (when we were sleep deprived) we forgot to plug it back in during the middle of the night and awoke to a dead monitor, thus inspiring a mad dash down the hall to check on baby. The manufacturer could easily have built an audible warning beep that signaled that the battery was on its last leg. They did manage to do this with a visual warning signal (the light changes color) - but that is not terribly useful when you're sleeping!

Other than this flaw, this really is a very good monitor. Just remember to plug in your parent unit if you use it while you're sleeping.

4 out of 5 stars Works Great... best reception   November 15, 2008
I'm telling you, after 4 other monitors that just did not work, this one is fantastic. No reception problems anywhere in the house or yard. The only reason I did not give 5 stars is that when the power goes out, the parent unit starts beeping. Plus, you have to manually turn unit back on when power is restored. But that being said, this is by far the best monitor we have ever had. You won't have to better one for the money, plus it is rechargable that lasts all night. We've had ours for a year now with no problems. It works in large condo buildings at the beach really well also.

5 out of 5 stars Love Love Love this Monitor!!!   November 13, 2008
I'm not usually one to take the time to write a review, but i just have to share how great this monitor is!
I was in the same thoughts as alot of other parents were- "i should get the graco imonitor because it's digital and graco and cool and i will not have any interference and it has a 2000' range"- So wrong! i bought the imonitor before the baby was born and tried it out and it failed miserably. we live in a typically sized suburban neighborhood lot and it barely made it to the end of our driveway without beeping out of service:(

So i returned it to target and got the Safety 1st, admittedly doubtful about it's quality bc it wasn't a "popular" name brand. But this monitor is awesome! For me, it goes about 4 houses over (probably abour 450') and is perfectly clear. i sometimes have to check to make sure it's still on- it is just that quiet. yes, the light on the baby monitor does blink when you have the parent monitor off, but i just put my baby monitor on the opposite side of his room (about 12' away) and i can still hear him perfectly clearly on the second volume level.

buy this monitor!! you will love it!!

3 out of 5 stars Great...but needs an on/off switch   November 11, 2008
I wanted to love this monitor...and there are many positive things about it. The sound quality is great. You won't hear every breath, but you will hear what you need to without all of the static. The design is simple and sleek. However, we live in a town where the power will go off for a minute or two very often. One would think this would not be a problem, but there is no on/off switch on the units so when the power goes off and switches back on, the parent receiver beeps very loudly and the only way to put the monitor back on in the babys room is to go in and physically turn it back on. Doesn't sound like it would be an issue...but after a month of owning this, it went back today to be replaced by the Sony Babycall. So far so good and just as good sound quality.

4 out of 5 stars A good monitor... but could add some extras   November 2, 2008
When we had our second child we needed another baby monitor, so we decided to go digital as all the other non-digital ones interferred with our original monitor. This is a great monitor, works fine, and it's nice not hearing the constant buzzing like our original one. I have two minor critiques: First, when the baby is crying, you can hear it, but there is no lighted noise indicator, so if you are watching a movie, or listening to something loud, you have to keep a close ear out. Secondly, I think it's a real bummer that there is only one receiver. We live in a large two story house, and it's great having one upstairs and one downstairs. But overall it is a great product.
