Love this item! August 5, 2007 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this item for our 22 month old who was able to climb out of the pack and play right before we were leaving for vacation. While on the expensive side, it is very compact, easy to pack and travel with and fairly easy to set up (take a few minutes). Just be careful when inserting the poles into the slots so as to not tear the material. The netting part is the same stuff that is on the sides of pack and plays- so it's completely breathable and not inhibiting. Great item for a climber and for traveling! Used this for our week long vacation for naps and at night time! I only have used the tent part, haven't even looked at the "cabana" part.
Portable playard tent July 30, 2007 I bought the portable playyard tent for my 17 month old. He sleeps over at my parents a lot and had learned to climb out of the pack n play. Once we attached the tent he can no longer climb out and is much safer. He likes going to sleep in his "big boy tent". I recommend this for anyone who needs to keep a toddler from climbing out of a pack n play.
Great product idea, but some flaws May 26, 2007 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
Like some of the other reviewers, I like this product, but it has some downfalls. I run a family daycare and am currently using two of the tents for children that can climb out of their playpens. One was purchased by the child's parents and the other one I just recently bought myself. I feel the tent is a bit expensive for what it is, but couldn't find anyone else who made the item. The one purchased by the daycare family often goes back and forth between my home and theirs. Because I also find the tent difficult to set up, I just unclip it from the bed and leave the poles in it and they transport it still set up. They took it apart the first few times, but we found out that because of the little bit lower quality of the materials, the tent was starting to rip in spots and one of the ends that holds in the pole ripped open also. We stopped taking it apart and we haven't had any more problems with ripping. So, the one that stays at my home I always keep together. I never take it apart. This prevents the damage to the tent and also the frustration of trying to get the poles back in place. So far, the second tent is holding up better than the first. I don't have animals so I don't know how well it would hold up to say a cat laying on it. However, it does a good job of keeping the kids from climbing out of their playpens. The clips hold firmly and I've never had a problem with the kids getting the tent off. And one of the kids is a pretty good escape artist. I would say that if you can leave the tent on the playpen all the time (or just unclip it, but keep the poles in), it would be worth the money to purchase this item. However, if want to use it while you travel or otherwise need to take it apart often, I would think twice about it. If you do take it apart, be very gentle and very careful each time.
Did what we needed May 24, 2007 This product did what we needed it to, namely kept our 21 -month old climber in the pack-n-play. It is very compact for travel, but if you ask me tries to be too many things. I threw away the extra parts to make it into a cabana because they just added bulk. I wish they were not included in the first place and that the whole thing cost less. My main complaint is that the tent material is very fragile. My sister and mom assembled it for me and shoved one of the poles through the silk material without even pushing hard. Also, one part where the netting is sewn to the zipper, the sewing machine must have missed a little and it is not fully attached, leaving a small hole. For $50, I would like something that seems like it would last longer. Overall, I would purchase the product again because it kept my toddler in her bed.
Just what we needed! May 15, 2007 We purhased the crib version of this product when my 2.5 year old started jumping out of his crib to the point of injuring himself. Due to his special needs, we realized we would be housebound for the foreseable future unless we could find a 'portable' safe sleeping option and this pack & play tent fit the bill. The assembly was trickier than the crib version of this product but certainly doable within a 30 minute time frame. The tent is very firmly affixed and so far, our son has not figured out how to get out of the tent which is a comfort to us when we travel. I would highly recommend this product for those in need of keeping a young child safe from jumping out of a pack & play.
